Sue Pedley

Sue Pedley is a visual artist living in Sydney, she is best known for her multimedia installations, large scale drawings and collaborations. Responsive to the contingencies of the sites where she works, her recurring themes include the environmental degradation of water and its impact on communities and the natural world. Her work also focuses on issues of colonisation including addressing her family history as settlers in Tasmania.

Pedley has collaborated with Phaptawan Suwannakudt creating an installation titled, Line Work: Rivers of the Basin (2021) at Penrith Regional Gallery and drawings, which then went on to be exhibited at Articulate Gallery (2021). Pedley has worked in Japan, China, Vietnam and Sri Lanka for over twenty years – within this time she has participated in the Echigo Tsumari Art Triennial (2006, 2018) and Setouchi Triennial (2010), where she worked closely with rural communities and volunteers.

Pedley teaches drawing at Sydney College of the Arts and the School of Architecture, Building and Planning at Sydney University.
